What’s the best way to care for your skin at night you say? Continuing on our sleep-themed skin care today we have some fantastic tips on how a simple night time regime can help you look great and feel fresh each morning. No expensive creams and lotions just a few simple steps to sleep like a beauty and wake up like a princess.

There are so many products on the market for you to use on your skin specifically at night time, to help the natural process of rejuvenation at night its not the specific cream that we believe is important, but rather a good skin care regime before retiring to bed.

Keep it clean – Remove your make up, especially around the eyes. It’s good to get rid of the grime of the day, so gently wash your skin with a soft cloth or use a mild cleanser. A clean surface will allow creams and lotions to penetrate better.

Moisturise – Night-time is a perfect time to moisturise. Often creams and lotions for use at night are a little thicker than those we use in the day to get that extra hydration. Don’t forget your neck.

Special creams – Serums and anti-wrinkle creams are ideal for application at bedtime.  Research into our buying habits shows that moisturisers account for 59% of all women’s facial skincare sales. The anti-ageing or anti-wrinkle varieties are the most popular type, accounting for close to £2 in every £5 spent on women’s moisturisers.

Attention all areas – Eye cream and lip balm are also good to apply at night.

On your back – Sleeping on your side or front can cause creases in your face, across your forehead and around your nose and chin – more so as you get older. If you sleep on your back you may be able to avoid those sleep lines.

So, getting your beauty sleep may not be just an old wife’s tale – try these steps and let us know how it affects your skin, coming up the rest of the week we continue to look at the benefits sleep has on our bodies, we will look at ways of bettering your sleep pattern to ensure a great nights rest every-night.

Is sleep good for your skin? All of those extra hours of shut-eye could be the secret to flawless beauty! – or is this something just seen in the fairy tails? Over the next few days here at Beauty Naturalé we will look into the effect sleep has on our appearance. We will uncover how our nap time behaviour affects our appearance and if our slumber-some antics can actually be the key to everlasting beauty?

Sleeping Beauty, we all know the tale – the wicked old stepmother poisons the beautiful princess in a deep sleep for 100 years – the irony, when she awakes she is as beautiful and radiant as the moment her eyes shut – ok 100 years asleep isn’t a feasible option in todays busy world but maybe getting eight hours can be good for your complexion.

There’s evidence that a lack of sleep shows up on your face.

In a study published in the British Medical Journal, participants rated photos of sleep-deprived faces as less attractive, less healthy and more tired.

According to a Sleep Council survey, one in 10 women feel so tired it affects their appearance every day. Top tell-tale signs are shadows under the eyes (56%), washed out, pasty skin (55%) and bags under eyes (36%).

The survey found that 94% of women agreed that the best tonic to looking and/or feeling better was a good night’s sleep.

“Beauty sleep is not a myth,” according to Dr Sean Lannigan, medical director of the sk:n clinics. “When we sleep our bodies restore themselves. In fact the metabolic rate increases to replenish dead cells at the surface of the skin.”

So what can we do to help this natural process along? follow us this week for the best skin tips and advise when sleeping.

Our busy lives often dictate the choices we make, especially when it comes to days of celebration and thanks. Unfortunately that can often involve a rushed trip down to Tescos or Asda to pick up a bagful of overpriced chocolates and generic gifts labeled ‘mother’s day ideas’. This year why not try something new & creative that will not only really impress your mum but probably help you save a few quid at the same time.

As you may have noticed we are massive fans of blueberries here at beauty naturale and we thought that one last celebration of the nations favourite super-fruit would not go a miss. Check out below for a fantastic recipe for that mothers day gift!

Grapeseed & Blueberry Face Mask

Blueberries are naturally rich in Vitamin C and contain something called anthocyanins, which boost collagen levels in the skin. Grapeseed oil is non-greasy, yet highly nourishing. It it rich is essential fatty acids, making it a superior anti-aging oil.

This recipie is for a treatment of 5 masks (just double for ten)

-Combine 1 cup of blueberries and 6 tablespoons of grapeseed oil. Puree in the blender.

-Add to a nice jar and wrap, make sure that the jar is well sealed, ikea have some great ones for around £4.00.

-If you think it looks a tittle thin add a small amount of pure honey.

-This mask should be applied to the skin with a facial brush and rinse off after 10 minutes. Voilà!
